Javeriana Estereo

Pontificia Universidad Javeriana operates Javeriana Estereo, a Colombian university radio station with studios in Bogotá and Cali. It was established on September 7, 1977, as Colombia’s first FM university station. With a major emphasis on talk and education, the station airs programs on science, culture, history, the economics, and rural education, such as “Bitácora” (science lab debates), “Primera Página” (morning economic news), e “El Guateque” (challenges in rural education). It is staffed mostly by students from many disciplines—communications, música, history, and literature—who receive real-world media experience. Javeriana Estereo broadcasts on 91.9 FM in Bogotá and 107.5 FM in Cali, bringing intellectual conversation into the community and extending the university’s teaching goal beyond classrooms.
