Javeriana Estereo

Pontificia Universidad Javeriana operates Javeriana Estereo, a Colombian university radio station with studios in Bogotá and Cali. It was established on September 7, 1977, as Colombia’s first FM university station. With a major emphasis on talk and education, the station airs programs on science, culture, history, the economics, and rural education, such as “Bitácora” (science lab debates), “Primera Página” (morning economic news), and “El Guateque” (challenges in rural education). It is staffed mostly by students from many disciplines—communications, music, history, and literature—who receive real-world media experience. Javeriana Estereo broadcasts on 91.9 FM in Bogotá and 107.5 FM in Cali, bringing intellectual conversation into the community and extending the university’s teaching goal beyond classrooms.
